Common Conditions

Oily skin has sebaceous glands working on overdrive producing excess sebum, and so have pores which appear enlarged. This causes a thick layer of oil to form over the skin giving it shiny and greasy appearance. Healthy and protected skin needs a good balance of hydration and sebum (oil) in the right amounts. Too much oil can cause breakouts and acne flare-ups including congestion, blackheads and whiteheads where as low oil levels disrupts our skin’s barrier. While the main contributory factors are hormonal imbalances and genetics, other important factors include diet and nutrition, medications, poor skincare routine and environmental factors.
