IPL is extremely safe in the hands of our highly-accredited and experienced laser safety clinician. Rest assured, you are under the best of care.
Any person over the age of 18 years who shows signs of aged or sun-damaged skin is a candidate for IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatments.
Note: IPL Photo Rejuvenation cannot be performed during pregnancy or lactation, nor can it be done on recently sun-tanned or sun over-exposed skin. After treatment, clients will need to avoid sun exposure and use SPF30+ sunscreen.
As our ipulse IPL system delivers energy to the skin in a gentle way, the treatment does not hurt, with some describing the sensation similar to the flick of an elastic band.?After a pigmentation or vascular session, it is normal to experience:
- Some redness, slight swelling and a mild sunburn-like sensation due to the body’s normal healing response to the light stimuli. This generally fades away within a couple of hours.
- Crusts, grazed skin or dirty appearance on pigmented areas is a positive outcome as the targeted pigmentation is moving to the surface of the skin. This may last up to 2 weeks.
- Broken facial capillaries become darker before they become lighter or disappear.
- In some cases, cold sores or blistering may occur. This will heal thanks to the natural healing process triggered during the treatment.
Important: IPL is most effective on people with fair complexions. Those with darker complexions can only have treatments using lower energy levels for which they will require more sessions. For people with very dark skin, IPL is not recommended. Similarly, people with a recent tan (whether from sunlight, tanning beds or spray tans) will need to wait until the tan has completely faded before starting IPL treatment.?As problems such as serious burns and loss of pigmentation can occur if you withhold such information, it is extremely important for you to read through the list of known contraindications and be fully transparent with our clinician.?Rest assured, all of this will be covered in detail in your initial consultation and before every session.
